Are there really five underground levels under the National Mall?
In the movie Night at the Musem 2, they had a graphic that showed 4-5 underground levels not only under individual museums but the entire National Mall, does anyone know if that’s actually true ?
While a wonderful film, a good part of it is made-up. For instance, there is no underground archives beneath the Mall. Each museum has a bit of storage beneath their own building, plus the Smithsonian has some storage facilities outside of Washington.
The only thing beneath the National Mall are utility pipes and the like, and, beneath a couple of places, tracks for the Metro subway system.
